From November 5-6 last year, as a result of emerging a winner in the AFRON “10 Dollar Robot Design Challenge” for my entry “A Locally Sourced Robotic Arm” seen on this site here, I had the privilege to be an exhibitor at the Maker Faire Africa 2012 held in Lagos,Nigeria. The event was quite an eye-opener introducing me to the Maker Culture and creating links with people that I still treasure. On November 7, there were training sessions on various topics from 3D printing to Arduinos to Light Up Your Gele (a session on using LEDs with traditional African headgears) held at the Co-Creation Hub (CCHUB),Yaba.
Below are pictures from the both the main event and the training sessions.

Wow!
Thanks for posting this Oluwafunmilore. I never even knew about your robotics activities. Any video clip? Great stuff!!!
I’m interested in learning more about your activities and finding out how I can be of help in any way. I can be reached at Bankarow@africathinkscitech.org and basically, we’re an organization interested in promoting science and technology in Nigeria/Africa.
Please have you got information on the Maker Faire 2013? I’m trying to get information on it and find out how I can maybe sponsor an entrant.
Also do you plan on entering an improved robot? I would encourage you to do so if you can.
For information about Maker Faire Africa 2013, the best place to check will be their website: http://www.makerfaireafrica.com I am sure they have a link to their email if you need to contact them.
Yes I am entering for the AFRON 2013 Design Challenge.
